The Rally, day 06

In the morning we leave Sarajevo behind, heading east into the mountains. We soon find ourselves in Republica Srpska, the Serbian part of Bosnia. After a quiet and uneventful hour, we suddenly get pulled over by the police!

Exactly why the car is being pulled over is a bit unclear, as none of the 2 officers speak any English, Norwegian or German. What is clear is that they want to give us a 150 € fine.

We look bewildered (not difficult) and try to argue against such ridiculousness. After a while the senior officer moves his focus over to our car and gestures, as if to say, «What the heck is this?»

We try to explain, as if it were the most natural thing in the world, that we are driving this pimped lawnmower to Mongolia!

After a few moments of shock and disbelief they send us on our merry way, wishing nothing more to do with such lunatics.

We cross into Serbia. The only reason this takes all of 15 minutes, is because most of the customs officers at the border want to take a selfie with the car in the picture 🙂

The scenery of the open landscape of Serbia changes greatly when we get near the Montenegro border. As we cross over the mountains we are stunned by the views, the winding roads and amazing scenery! This coming from Norwegians, too – a people not easily impressed by mountainous roads.

Winding roads in Montenegro

As we get closer to the coast, the landscape changes with the temperature, and when we make camp in Sveti Stefan it is with the sun sinking into the Mediterranean.

Sunset in Montenegro

We’ve traveled 485 km and traveled through Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro.

Don’t forget to check out our ever-growing photo gallery of fantastic-ness.
