Here’s an update from Mongolia.
It’s a bit sporadic, since the guys rarely have any cell coverage, but some news manages to trickle through from time to time.
Since Altai, it’s been a rough day for the Mongol Rally convoy that joined forces at the Russia/Mongolia border.
The teams of Lee, the Mad Maximizers and Baatar or Bust have sustained some damage to their rides due to the horrible road conditions. They needed to fix that before continuing, so now they’re lagging behind the rest of the convoy.
Yesterday, the teams took turns riding the motorcycle, to give Lee a much needed break. Due to the shit/none-existing roads, Snorre of team Yak in Black took an unscheduled trip off-road with Lee’s bike and has cracked/broken two ribs as a result. Since he figures that he’s got 22 more ribs, he says it’s no big deal (also, the two doctors in team Wheels of Mongloria apparently carry painkillers with them).
The Mad Maximizers’ Fiat was up and running again this morning, after Mongolian mechanics worked on it the whole night
Teams Wheels of Mongloria, Radical Nomadicals and Yak in Black have now reached Buutsagaan in Mongolia, where the roads are fractionally better than yesterday.
After a short break they continue on.
