Day 1 of the Mongol Rally. Germany, Switzerland and the czech-out party.
Tuesday, 22 July 2014 at 17:00 – Wednesday, 23 July 2014 at 06:00 (CEST)
49° 19′ 52.81″ N 13° 13′ 20.95″ E, Czech Republic
It’s the day of the Czech-out party, yippeeee.
A single night of wild abandonment in Klenova Castle in the rolling Bohemian hills of The Czech Republic.
The day basically is spent bullshitting each other and the teams that have shown up.
Ah, yes – barbecueing and beerdrinking are also part of the day’s activities 🙂
We end up in an interesting part of the camp, where Norwegians, Swedes, Romanians and New Zealanders make up a formidable group of people. In the picture you see members of the Norwegian teams Midgard Serpent Chasers, Blaatur and Yak in Black (yeah, he’s the one grinning 😉
Team Blaatur spent a bit of time replacing some gaskets at the night of the Czech-Out party. What needs, must.
‘Nuff said 😉
Day 4
Team YIB is among the first to leave the camp at 8am in the morning – after filling up on pancakes.
It is eerily quiet in the morning, and amidst the sound of Swedish snoring, Team Yak in Black decides that this is a good time to take their leave of Klenova.
Even though our route takes us south from here, it’s actually faster to go via Prague and follow the main highways.
The kilometers, and indeed the miles, travel by quickly in the beautiful sun. When we cross into Slovenia it starts to get pretty hot in the car.
In Hungary we are invited by Rob and Josien, the newlyweds from Røros. After a too-short stop, we continue on to Pécs where we break for camp at 9pm.
We managed 914 km and saw the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
